BAD AI: Police Fake Football
The Police have been in the news recently.
A Sting operation? Please. Behave.
Alright, what have they done now? The West Midlands Old Bill used AI to write out a football match report.
Sounds like a good use of public funds, problem? AI hallucinated the match report, deemed the next one high-risk for hooliganism and banned away fans.
Bet the fans weren't walking on the moon? They were fuming - the fake game was at West Ham, so they missed out on a trip to Westfield, some overpriced Bubble Tea and the intense atmosphere of the world's biggest library (AKA West Ham's 'Olympic' stadium).
Anything else in the phantom match report? Yes, it had Man Utd winning 3 games in a row, but everyone saw through that laughable scenario.
Any lesson for The Police? Well, I find the 2nd verse of Message in a Bottle a bit pitchy.
Enough already for f*ck sake.

AI TOOLS: Moltbot

Moltbot (formerly Clawdbot) is a viral, open-source personal AI agent that runs locally and connects to services like email, calendars, and messaging apps - AI circles have had a bit of a meltdown over it.
What you need to know:
- Not a chatbot - an agent: Moltbot is designed to take actions (send messages, manage calendars, run workflows), often via chat apps like WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal/Discord and similar channels.
- Local + open-source: A big reason it's spreading is the self-host / run it yourself narrative - you can operate it locally rather than purely in a SaaS black box.
- Rebrand happened fast: It was renamed from Clawdbot to Moltbot after a trademark query from Anthropic (which owns Claude).
- Security challenges: Reports have highlighted exposed admin/control panels and the broader risk profile of an always-on agent with credentials, API keys, and system access - including prompt injection.
What it means for businesses:
Moltbot is a preview of what's coming to work: agentic software with real permissions. The upside is speed, automation, less grunt work. The downside: the moment you give an agent unfettered access to all your systems, you've created a new attack surface and your IT department's worst nightmare.
Wider context:
AI that answers is moving to AI that operates - agents that book, send, change, delete, deploy. Moltbot went viral because it makes that future feel tangible today. We're handing powerful tools the keys, before we've agreed on the safety standards - but it's the shape of where AI is rapidly heading.
We run AI operational efficiency for organisations in manufacturing, technology, finance and other sectors. Talk to us about implementing it for you.
AI UPDATES: ChatGPT Ads

OpenAI is introducing ads into ChatGPT's free and lower-cost tiers. Ads will be apparently clearly labelled, separate from AI responses, and tested initially with U.S. users and select advertisers.
What you need to know:
- Ads moving into ChatGPT: OpenAI will test adverts on the free and new budget ChatGPT Go tier, while paid plans stay ad-free (for now).
- Contextual, labelled placements: Ads won't alter answers; they'll appear above/below responses and be marked as such.
- Advertiser rollout: Early trials with a limited group of advertisers are scheduled ahead of a broader launch, with pricing based on views rather than clicks.
- Revenue stakes: OpenAI need revenue - this is the only viable option to monetise a broad consumer user base of around a billion people.
What it means for businesses:
ChatGPT wants to be a media channel of intent rather than just a tool. Ads are poised to show up in real conversational contexts - reaching users when they're researching solutions, products or services. Relevance, timing and context matter more when users are asking questions, not just scrolling feeds.
Wider context:
95% of ChatGPT's 1 billion users don't pay anything - so covering the enormous compute costs requires diversified revenue. They've sensibly started small - but make no mistake, the future of their (consumer) product is as an ad-funded social platform.
AI TRENDS: Anthropic Economic Index
Anthropic's January 2026 Economic Index looked at 2 million real Claude work conversations to give us a steer on what people are actually doing with AI at work.
What you need to know:
- Work is being decomposed, not deleted: Across most occupations, AI is now involved in ~25% of tasks, even though fewer than 1 in 10 firms show signs of full role automation. Jobs are being unbundled into AI-assistable pieces.
- Harder work benefits more than easy work: Productivity uplift isn't linear: tasks mapped to secondary-school skills see ~9× speed gains, while higher-education tasks jump to ~12×, (the suggestion being AI rewards expertise rather than replacing it).
- AI is crossing the one-session barrier: Claude is now reliably supporting work that spans full working days, reporting ~50% success on tasks approaching 20 hours - a shift toward AI as a long-running collaborator.
- People stay in control: The dominant usage pattern is humans steering, correcting and iterating with AI - not handing work over end-to-end. Most value comes from judgment layered on top of model output.
What it means for businesses:
The productivity upside is real, but it comes from integrating workflows, not just deploying tools. Organisations getting ahead are explicitly deciding which tasks become AI-accelerated, which remain human-owned, and how quality is enforced.
Wider context:
The emerging risk isn't sudden unemployment - it's capability drift. If early-career tasks disappear into AI, companies will need new ways to build intuition, experience and progression. Workforce strategy, not tech adoption, becomes the bottleneck.

FAQ: What happened with the Police AI football match report?
West Midlands Police used AI to write a football match report, but the AI hallucinated the content. Based on this fake report, the next match was deemed high-risk for hooliganism and away fans were banned from attending the West Ham game.
FAQ: What is Moltbot?
Moltbot (formerly Clawdbot) is a viral, open-source personal AI agent that runs locally and connects to services like email, calendars, and messaging apps. Unlike chatbots, it's designed to take actions such as sending messages, managing calendars, and running workflows via chat apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Discord.
FAQ: Why was Clawdbot renamed to Moltbot?
Clawdbot was renamed to Moltbot after a trademark query from Anthropic, which owns the Claude AI brand. The rebrand happened quickly after the project went viral.
FAQ: What are the security risks of Moltbot?
Moltbot poses several security challenges including exposed admin and control panels, and the broader risk profile of an always-on agent with credentials, API keys, and system access. It is also vulnerable to prompt injection attacks. Giving an agent unfettered access to systems creates a new attack surface.
FAQ: Is ChatGPT getting ads?
Yes, OpenAI is introducing ads into ChatGPT's free and lower-cost tiers. Ads will be clearly labelled, separate from AI responses, and tested initially with US users and select advertisers. Paid plans will remain ad-free for now.
FAQ: How will ChatGPT ads work?
ChatGPT ads will appear above or below AI responses and will be clearly marked as advertisements. They won't alter the AI's answers. Pricing will be based on views rather than clicks, and OpenAI is starting with a limited group of advertisers before a broader rollout.
FAQ: Why is OpenAI adding ads to ChatGPT?
OpenAI needs revenue to cover enormous compute costs, and 95% of ChatGPT's 1 billion users don't pay anything. Advertising is the only viable option to monetise such a broad consumer user base.
FAQ: What is the Anthropic Economic Index?
The Anthropic Economic Index is a January 2026 report that analysed 2 million real Claude work conversations to understand how people are actually using AI at work. It provides insights on AI adoption patterns, productivity gains, and the future of work.
FAQ: What did the Anthropic Economic Index find about AI and jobs?
The index found that work is being decomposed, not deleted. AI is now involved in approximately 25% of tasks across most occupations, but fewer than 1 in 10 firms show signs of full role automation. Jobs are being unbundled into AI-assistable pieces rather than being entirely replaced.
FAQ: How much productivity gain does AI provide according to Anthropic?
According to Anthropic's Economic Index, tasks mapped to secondary-school skills see approximately 9× speed gains, while higher-education tasks see approximately 12× gains. This suggests AI rewards expertise rather than replacing it, with harder work benefiting more than easy work.
