In the latest edition of 'let’s replace the humans then pretend we didn’t' Duolingo’s CEO Luis von Ahn accidentally fired a missile at his own brand via an all-hands AI manifesto.

Ok then, what did it say? Basically, everyone's replaceable. Except me. AI is your new boss. Learn prompt engineering or job-perish.

Sounds good, what's the problem? Users revolted. Memes multiplied like AI-generated rats. Turns out people don't like being told they're meat puppets about to be replaced by a trumped-up autocomplete - so he had to peddle the 'I was misunderstood' line (i.e. we love humans, you're not like batteries at all, not a bit).
