Bad AI: Deloitted With a Refund

Deloitte to establish four technology centres across UK

Oh dear. Deloitte have been in the AI wars this week.

Why's that then? They had to refund the Aussie government around A$400k.

Didn't pay their water bill? Nope.

Auditing irregularities? Not quite.

I give up. They created a report for the government that fabricated sources, hallucinated like an audit bro on acid and got rubber-stamped by their finest minds anyway.*

Bet that went down well in their board meeting? There were back-slaps aplenty, cocktails at lunch, and their ChatGPT intern got promoted to regional CEO (checking this for accuracy as we go to print).*

Er, really? In a moment of blinding techno-clarity, they realised they might be able to pitch this colossal AI f*ck-up as 'synthetic insight' and charge triple next time.*

AI Updates: ChatGPT Dev Day

OpenAI announced a major wave of updates at its 2025 Dev Day this week - expanding ChatGPT into a full platform for apps, agents, and integrated workflows.

Here's the breakdown:

Users can now build and run third-party apps directly inside ChatGPT using the new Apps SDK, with early integrations including Canva, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow.

A new AgentKit gives developers tools to create intelligent agents with visual workflow builders, connectors, and evaluation systems.

GPT-5 Codex coding is now generally available, with new Slack integration and enterprise admin controls.

Developers gain API access to GPT-5 Pro, Sora 2 for generative video, and a lower-cost realtime voice model.

What It Means for Business:

ChatGPT is evolving from a single-use tool into a workspace where teams can design, search, plan, and build, all inside one interface. Who eventually becomes the default will win big here.

Wider Context:

OpenAI is attempting to be the standard for 'the invisible interface' and being the central hub of where different types of app or software connect to AI systems - pushing competitors (and partners) to build within its ecosystem rather than outside it.

AI VIDEO: Sora 2

OpenAI launched Sora 2, their video creation + social network last week to much fanfare - and some challenges.

Here's the lowdown:

Video shorts: Up to 10 seconds and generated from text prompts or 'cameo' uploads of user likenesses.

Sora No.1 in the app store: It went big - within 24 hours it was top of the charts, despite its limited initial rollout.

Backlash on copyright: There was pushback over the default use of copyrighted characters and likenesses - in response, OpenAI is reversing portions of its policy: moving from opt-out to opt-in controls, introducing granular rights settings, and exploring revenue-sharing for rights holders.

US & Canada launch: It's currently in two territories, but rolling out globally soon.

What It Means for Business:

Sora is a platform being packaged as a social feed. Brands need to quickly get a handle on what it means for their businesses - whether to experiment, wait and see or dive in and see what's possible. This opens up new ways for to be visible - but comes with reputation risk.

Wider Context:

This is the first real social AI network built around synthetic media, not reaction or memes. OpenAI is testing whether it can mediate control, participation - and monetisation - in real time.
