BAD AI: TV Reality

Channel 4 have finally gone and done it.

Created a decent TV programme? Very droll, but no. They've created the UK's first terrestrial AI presenter.

Is the AI any good? If you like your presenters dead-eyed and giving off haunted toaster vibes, you're all set.

Could they extend them to Love Island contestants? That's ITV. Channel 4 is the home of quality television programming - Naked Attraction, Married at First Sight, and now Dispatches: Death-Stare Edition.

Public reaction? Half the audience thought Claudia Winkleman was asking them to be a traitor (UK audiences plainly have eyesight issues).

Ratings were good then? Engagement was up 4700% - but that was mostly from terrified viewers ringing in to voice their darkest fears on the future of humanity, and if the presenter could blink a bit more.

Is there a lesson here? Presenters are replaceable, next up...viewers.

AI PLAYBOOK: Sales & Marketing

Your sales and marketing engine isn't broken, it's manual, disconnected and quite likely driving you (and your exec.) crazy - why does everything take so long?

Marketing teams lose over 5 hours a week per person to slow research, scattered content that could be reused more effectively and campaigns that take longer to brief than execute.

We've put together a playbook on where AI agents can help.

You can download it here.

AI MODELS: Claude Skills

Anthropic have launched Skills for Claude - instructions that teach the model your workflows and processes to produce better outputs.

What you need to know:

  • Skills are folders of instructions, scripts and resources that the model loads dynamically to handle specialised tasks.
  • They can be created in a configurable assistant to apply brand guidelines, manipulate Excel, generate PowerPoints and follow your workflow.
  • Teams can now publish internal Skill libraries (think brand tone guides, financial models, compliance scripts) that plug into Claude on demand.
  • Availability is restricted to paid tiers (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise) for now. Also, be mindful of security and operational implications - Skills can execute code and access resources.

What it means for businesses:

Skills let you encode institutional know-how directly into Claude - anything from RFP scoring to financial forecasting. Done right, it's reusable automation without needing full app builds. This has gone under the radar a little, but it's a really useful extension to Claude's capabilities.

Wider context:

We're seeing a push towards distributed micro-agents, which is another step toward practical agentic infrastructure. Expect OpenAI, Google and Microsoft to continue developing their own versions of 'function stores' inside their ecosystems.

Get in touch to drive your AI initiatives forward. We help organisations train teams, create executable strategy and build AI systems.

AI BROWSERS: OpenAI Atlas

Desktop browser window showing an Instacart integration with ChatGPT. On the left, the Instacart store page for Power Sporting Goods lists categories like Shoes, Sports Gear, and Camping, with product deals including sunscreen, pickleballs, beach towels, and a black bucket hat. On the right, ChatGPT responds to the prompt ‘Heading to the beach with the kids tomorrow! Can you grab the usual beach-day stuff?’ by confirming it’s fulfilling a beach essentials request and explaining its item choices, such as SPF 50 sunscreen.

OpenAI has released ChatGPT Atlas, a standalone browser that embeds ChatGPT directly into everyday web use - allowing users to search, analyse, and act on web content in one interface.

What you need to know:

  • Integrated assistant: ChatGPT runs inside the browser, allowing users to summarise pages, extract data, and generate content in real time.
  • Agent mode: Users on paid plans can enable autonomous navigation for tasks such as bookings, research, and online form completion.
  • Persistent memory: Atlas stores session context so the assistant can recall previous activity – however, this introduces data security and privacy considerations.
  • Platform rollout: The browser launches first on macOS, with Windows and mobile versions expected soon.

What it means for businesses:

Atlas combines browsing and automation in one tool, reducing research time but requiring updated data-handling policies to manage stored context and credential exposure.

Wider context:

The release positions Atlas as a direct competitor to Chrome. OpenAI are looking to control as many surface areas of AI as they can - and eating as much of Chrome's c.70% market share would be a big part of that.
