BAD AI: McConaughey Not Alright
Alright, Alright, Alright. Matthew McConaughey, Hollywood's most aggressively whispered southern drawler has been in the AI news.
Why's that then? He's copyrighted his likeness, voice and sayings.
Why's that then? AI deepfakes are now so convincing that somewhere, right now, a synthetic McConaughey is explaining crypto, manifesting a mid-2000's rom-com DVD avalanche and selling mushroom protein to men who describe themselves as hunters but live in Shoreditch.
Good on him, guess he hates AI then? Definitely, that's why he's only a minor investor in ElevenLabs.
And what do they do? Deepfake synthetic voices of people, actors and likely your pet labradoodle - all you need is a microphone and a magic mic.
Not very Interstellar of him, wouldn't you say? Not at all, I see no dichotomy in this setup:
- AI using his voice? โ Federal crime
- Him using AI to scale everyone else's voice? โ Innovation
Alright then. I noticed you've used one of my phrases, that'll be 200 quid - payable immediately, thanks.
F*ck off Murph.

AI TOOLS: Claude Cowork
Anthropic has launched Cowork, a new feature that brings its Claude Code tool to non-developers. Rather than a coding interface, Cowork lets you point Claude at a folder on your Mac and let it work semi-autonomously on file-based tasks.
What you need to know:
- Folder-first architecture: You give Cowork access to a specific folder, and it can read, create, edit, and organise files within it. Tasks queue up and run in sequence rather than requiring back-and-forth prompting.
- Sandboxed by default: The system runs files in an isolated environment - Anthropic built this to limit blast radius if something goes wrong.
- Built on Claude Code's bones: Cowork uses the same Claude Agent SDK that powers the coding tool. Anthropic says they built the entire feature in approximately a week and a half, largely using Claude Code itself.
- Max-tier only, macOS only: Currently available as a research preview for Claude Max subscribers (£90-120). Windows support is planned, but no timeline has been given just yet.
- Prompt injection risk acknowledged: Anthropic explicitly warns that Cowork can be manipulated via malicious content in files or web pages and recommends limiting access to trusted sources.
What it means for businesses:
This is Anthropic's clearest move into the enterprise productivity space. If you're already paying for Claude Max, you now have an agent that can process receipts into spreadsheets, turn notes into drafts, and organise downloads — without writing code or opening a terminal.
Wider context:
Claude Code was already being used for non-coding work by power users who figured out how to repurpose it. Cowork is Anthropic formally productising that behaviour.
Microsoft still dominates enterprise (90%+ of Fortune 500 use Microsoft 365 Copilot, per Microsoft's Ignite 2025 announcement), but Anthropic's developer-first-then-expand strategy means Cowork inherits battle-tested agentic capabilities rather than being bolted on as an afterthought. Worth testing if you're already a Max (and now Pro) subscriber.
AI TRENDS: ChatGPT Health

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Health, a dedicated space within the chatbot for health and wellness conversations - with the ability to connect your actual medical records and wellness apps for more personalised responses.
What you need to know:
- Separate, encrypted environment: Health operates as a siloed experience with its own chat history and memories. Information doesn't flow into regular ChatGPT conversations, and health chats aren't used to train models.
- Medical record connectivity: US users can authorise access to electronic health records, plus wellness apps like Apple Health, MyFitnessPal and Peloton can also be connected.
- Not for diagnosis: OpenAI states it's designed to help you understand test results, prep for appointments, or make sense of insurance options - not replace clinical care.
- Not available in EU/UK/Switzerland: Rollout is limited to users outside of regions (for now...) with stricter data privacy rules. Waitlist open for early access elsewhere.
What it means for businesses:
OpenAI is positioning ChatGPT as the interface layer between consumers and complex systems - starting with healthcare. In health-adjacent industries (insurance, wellness, employer benefits), we'll likely see users supplement 'Dr. Google' with AI-generated summaries and pre-formed questions.
Wider context:
OpenAI says 230 million people ask health questions on ChatGPT weekly. That's already happening; this just formalises it with better data integration and privacy controls. Anthropic has kept up and launched Claude for Healthcare as well, focused on clinicians.

FAQ: Why did Matthew McConaughey copyright his likeness for AI?
Matthew McConaughey copyrighted his likeness, voice and sayings because AI deepfakes have become so convincing that synthetic versions of celebrities can be created without consent. This protects him legally from unauthorised AI-generated content using his identity.
FAQ: Is Matthew McConaughey invested in AI companies?
Yes, Matthew McConaughey is a minor investor in ElevenLabs, an AI company that creates synthetic voice cloning technology. This creates an interesting contradiction where he protects his own voice from AI replication while investing in technology that enables voice cloning of others.
